Accelerometric Studies of Night-Time Motor Activity with Essential Tremor

2020
Diagnostics and monitoring of essential tremor are underdeveloped. The existing instrumental methods for assessing and monitoring of essential tremor have common disadvantages: the difficulty of carrying out at home and the impossibility of permanent monitoring. The device for assessing the effectiveness of treatment of essential tremor in outpatient conditions by studying the patient’s motor activity during sleep has been developed. A new method of monitoring of essential tremor including study of the patient’s motor activity during sleep using accelerometry has been proposed. To prove the workability of the proposed method it was carried out a study of 11 patients of both males and females from 57 to 83 years old to determine the possibility of assessing the effectiveness of treatment of essential tremor. It was concluded that there are further prospects for using these methodological approaches to diagnose and monitor of essential tremor.
