Influence of Bifidobacterium adolescentis on immune function and kidney function in type 2 diabetes mellitus rats.

2010
Objective To observe the changes of Interleukin-2(IL-2),Interleukin-4(IL-4),Interleukin-6(IL-6) and Interferon-γ(IFN-γ) in the sera of type 2 diabetes mellitus rats as well as the changes of the level of NO and endothelin-1(ET-1) caused by Bifidobacterium adolescentis, and discuss the influence of Bifidobacterium adolescentis on the immune function and kidney function in type 2 diabetes mellitus rats.Method The levels of IL-2,IL-4,IL-6,IFN-γ and ET-1 in blood and urine were examined by ELISA method;the level of NO was examined by nitrate reductase method after gavaging type 2 diabetes mellitus rats by Bifidobacterium adolescentis.Result Bifidobacterium adolescentis increased the levels of IL-2 and IL-4,decreased the activity of IL-6,IFN-γ and ET-1,and dynamically adjusted the level of NO.Conclusion Bifidobacterium adolescentis has the effects of balancing immune function, restraining ET-1 and adjusting the level of NO in type 2 diabetes mellitus rats, thus preventing the occurrence of glomerulosclerosis.
