Wader Populations of Morecambe Bay, Lancashire

1973
Several estuaries, Morecambe Bay among them, are under threat of development as barrage schemes. Such development will radically reduce the feeding areas now available to large numbers of a wide variety of wader species. The aim of this study, in the context of the Estuaries Enquiry, is to determine the origin and assess the size of the autumn, winter and spring flocks in Morecambe Bay, and consider their importance in relation to the British and western Palaerctic populations.
