[Varicocele: personal contributions to the surgical technique].

: Current clinical concepts as well as bases and rationale of varicocele treatment are reviewed. The accent is placed on the diagnostic value of the doppler technique because of its simplicity and efficacy as well as usefulness during surgery. Among the various therapeutical options, the author is inclined towards the surgical correction via inguinal access, with local anaesthetics and peri-operative assessment of radicality, through the use of spermatic doppler recording and actively patient-induced Valsalva maneuver. The excellent results obtained in over 90% of treated cases support the use of this technique.
