Acute retiform purpura caused by Morganella morganii

An 84-year-old man presented to the emergency department with prostration, fever (40°C) and hypotension. Hours later he developed rapidly progressive erythemato-purpuric patches in a branching pattern with central haemorrhagic bullae distributed over the abdomen and thighs ([figure 1][1]). He was
