[Colloquium of Maghribin demography: Hammamet Tunisia June 9-13 1980]

A colloquium on the demography of the Maghreb countries Tunisia Algeria and Morocco was held in Hammamet Tunisia in June 1980 sponsored by the Maghreb Association for the Study of Population and by the Arab Work Organization. Participants to the colloquium were 50 specialists in statistics demographic and social problems related to the regions of the Maghreb. There were 30 presentations on the following subjects: 1) development of Maghreb economic and social resources especially concerning employment and unemployment status of the Maghreb populations; 2) employment demand concerning especially the relationship between job training and employment status; 3) female employment especially in Tunisia and Algeria where women still hold the least paid jobs; 4) internal migration to the countryside and to urban areas; and 5) concepts and methods of data collection with particular reference to the detection and measure of errors.
