Influence factors for accident injuries among university students in Ganzhou

Objective:To reveal the influence factors of accidental injuries in university students and provide a scientific basis for school authorities to develop appropriate interventions.Methods:A stratified cluster sampling study on the prevalance of injuries from December 2008 to December 2009 was conducted among undergraduates in three different types of universities in Ganzhou.Results:The injury rate was 39.86 percent,the top five causes of injury were sports injuries(37.40%),falls(24.42%),burns(9.62%),environmental damage(8.08%) and animal bites(5.87%).Student's home address,school and after-school life stress and timing have significant impact on the incidence of injuries.Conclusion:The incidence of injury among undergraduates in Ganzhou was so high that the relevant departments should take effective measures to prevent and control it so as to promote the health of students in this group.
