Stability Analysis of Slopes Reinforced with Pre-tensioned Cables by Limit Analysis Method
2006
Pre-tensioned cables have been extensively used to reinforce soil and rock slopes. In this paper, the kinematic approach of limit analysis is used to analyse the stability of soil slopes reinforced with pre-tensioned cables. The action of a cable is simplified as a force acting on the surface of slope, and formulas are derived to calculate the safety factor of cable-reinforced slope. The presence of cable changes the critical surface of reinforced slope. The assumption that the critical surface does not change with the addition of the cable would lead to non-conservative results for the factor of safety.According to analysis results, the most suitable location of the cable within the slope is near the slope toe.
