Microstructure and magnetic anisotropy properties of Pr2Co7 films deposited on Al2O3(0001) substrate

Abstract Nanocrystalline Pr2Co7 films deposited on Al2O3(0001) substrate have been investigated. The annealing temperature Ta and layer-thickness δ dependences of anisotropy of these films were studied using random magnetic anisotropy calculations and the ferromagnetic resonance measurements (FMR). Correlations between the microstructure and the magnetic anisotropy properties, in particular the effects of morphology, interfacial structure and surface anisotropy constant Ks, are discussed.
