Analysis and Improvement of Electrical Lifetime of Generator Circuit Breaker of Pumped Storage Unit

The lifetime evaluation method of the circuit breaker of the pumped storage unit has been proposed. On the basis of the operation and maintenance experience of the circuit breakers in Guangzhou pumped storage power station, the influence of the breaking current on the electrical lifetime of the circuit breakers is analyzed, and the causes of excessive breaking current and the improvement measures for reducing the breaking current have been studied. Furthermore, the Optimized shutdown process of generator has been proposed, the active and reactive power can be unloaded to the minimum by controlling the guide vane and unit terminal voltage, which can effectively improve the electrical lifetime of the generator circuit breaker.
