All-attitude accelerometer north finder based on arithmetic of correlation filtering algorithm

2008
The accelerometer-based north finder system usually applied dynamic measurement scheme owing to its angular-velocity measurement principle. So a useful initial phase detection method in dynamic measuring, the correlation filtering algorithm, was introduced to curb the periodic and stochastic noises, which couldn’t be effectively eliminated by data fitting algorithm, and to resolve north angle. Based on this algorithm, the relationship between north finding angle and the attitude angles was analyzed. Then an attitude compensation approach was presented which used two more accelerometers to sense the two attitude angles when the turntable was tilted. The simulation results show that the correlation filtering arithmetic with attitude compensation can significantly inhibit the various noises in accelerometers and realize all-attitude north finding. The eventual north finding error is induced only by the instrument error.
