The present invention provides a method of monitoring a fiber optic cable prestress and sensor. The monitoring method in order to prestress prestressing wound around the outer surface of the single-mode optical fiber under test as a sensing unit, to achieve long-term, stable monitoring of prestress. Monitoring sensing method of sensing structure pretensioned bridge fiber comprising: a prestress monitoring module, the temperature compensation module, the signal transmission section and the optical cable protective steel sleeve. The present invention is pressed with prestress against Anchorage device under test to monitor the force, and then get pretensioned. In a further prestressed by winding the same specifications under test, and no force on the prestressing of the optical fiber coil temperature compensation in the same temperature environment under test DUT to correct the effect of ambient temperature on the monitoring results of the prestressing, more accurate monitoring of the strain at the same time, achieve measurement of the internal temperature of the cable body. This method is suitable for long-term monitoring of pretensioned bridge, with high accuracy, long life, and low cost.
