Nutrient utilization and wool yield in Angora weaning rabbits fed on three levels of Robinia leaves.

2000
Eighteen Angora Weaners (50 day old, 0.5 kg body weight), divided into three groups on body weight and sex basis, were fed with 120 (T0), 100 (T1) or 80 g/day (T2) mash feed. Less feed in groups T1 and T2 was replaced with 50 and 100 g partialy sun dried robinia leaves to make rations isonitrogenous. Mixed grass was fed ad lib. to all the groups for 160 days thereafter, a metabolism trial was conducted. Body weight of rabbits, digestibility of the nutrients and wool yield in group T1 was comparable to group T0 which indicated that 20 g feed can be replaced with 50 g partially sun dried Robinia leaves to raise the rabbits economically.
