Method for pre-treating coal for direct carbon fuel cell and direct carbon fuel cell using same

2014
A method for pre-treating coal for a direct carbon fuel cell according to an embodiment of the present invention may comprise heat-treating coal at a temperature of 800°C to 1100°C. In addition, a direct carbon fuel cell according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a cylindrical anode supporter having one side open and an opposite side closed and using coal, as a fuel, having passed through a pretreatment process; an Anode Functional Layer (AFL) formed on the outer surface of the anode supporter; an electrolyte layer formed on the outer surface of the anode functional layer; and a cathode layer formed on the outer surface of the electrolyte layer, wherein the pretreatment process includes heat-treating the coal at a temperature of 800°C to 1100°C. Furthermore, a direct carbon fuel cell according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a cylindrical anode supporter having one side open and an opposite side closed and using coal, as fuel, having passed through a pretreatment process; an Anode Functional Layer (AFL) formed on the outer surface of the anode supporter; an electrolyte layer formed on the outer surface of the anode functional layer; and a cathode layer formed on the outer surface of the electrolyte layer, wherein the anode supporter is formed using paste containing nickel/yttria-stabilized zirconia cermet, the cathode layer is formed in a multi-layer structure in which an LSM-YSZ layer, an LSM layer, and an LSCF layer are sequentially formed, and the pretreatment process includes heat-treating the coal at a temperature of 800°C to 1100°C.
