Detection of Staphylococcus aureus L-form infection in ovarian carcinoma and its significance.

2009
Objective To detect infection of Staphylococcus aureus L-forms in ovarian neoplasms, and discuss its significance in ovarian neoplasms.Method Gram's staining and immunohistochemical technology were used for detection of bacterial L-forms in the infected HO-8910PM cell line,97 cases of ovarian papillary carcinoma cell and 23 cases of benign tumor cell.Result(1)Signals of L-forms were detected in both cytoplasms and nuclei of HO-8910PM cell culture.(2)Ratios of L-form infection in malignant and benign neoplasms of ovary were 25.8% and 13.0% respectively. The positive rate of L-forms increased according to the clinical stage and pathological grade(P 0.005),and was higher in patients with celiac lymph nodes involvement(P 0.005).Conclusion Infection of Staphylococcus aureus L-forms can promote occurrence and development of ovarian carcinomas.
