Efficacy of common antitrichomonal drugs agaist Trichomonas gallinae from pigeon in vitro

2006
The efficacy of 8 common antitrichomonal drugs against Trichomonas gallinae was evaluated in vitro. All the culture tubes,in which T.gallinae stayed in breeding stable phase, were allocated to experimental groups and control groups randomly.Experimental groups were given with these medicines at different concentrations, respectively and control group was not given drugs. After cultivation for 2 and 6 hours at 37℃,the number of survived parasites was counted, and compared with that in the control group, and the relative survival rate was used to evaluate the efficacy of these drugs. In results,Dimetridazole and Tinidazole can kill T.gallinae remarkably;Anticandine,Ciprofloxacin and Complex Sulfamethoxazole had partial inhibition effect;Tylosin,Complex Licorice and Berberine Hydrochloride had little effect. The results provide foundation for choosing antitrichomonal agents for clinical treatment.
