A Biparametric Cell-averaging CFAR Detector in Sea Clutter Background

2010
A model for the amplitude statistics of radar sea clutter is introduced, and it is shown that for the same threshold coefficient, the probability of false alarm in "spiked" sea clutter is obviously higher than that in noise. Then the configuration map of a biparametric cell-averageing(CA-CFAR) detector is proposed, and the performance of this detector is analyzed by simulation. Finally, the real data detection results processed by the biparametric CA-CFAR detector and the traditional CA-CFAR method are compared. For a given probability of false alarm, the biparametric CA-CFAR detector can adaptively adjust its threshold coefficients in range to control the high probability of false alarm resulted from sea clutter.
