Method of suppressing oxygen bubble formation to glass melt, device for implementing this method and application of glass manufactured by this method

2001
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improving method and device of preventing or suppressing the formation of non-electrically derived oxygen bubbles. SOLUTION: This method of manufacturing glass includes a) a process step of forming a glass melt from the starting material in a melting device, in which the melting device includes at least one metallic parts having metallic surfaces in contact with the glass melt in the first region of the glass melt and allows the prescribed oxygen partial pressure in the first region, b) a process step of suppressing the formation of the oxygen bubbles in the glass melt at the contact surfaces between the metallic surfaces and the glass melt, c) a process step of immersing an electrode in the second region of the glass melt not including the first region, in which the oxygen bubble formation at the contact surfaces allows the oxygen partial pressure lower than the prescribed oxygen partial pressure in the first region at the contact surface suppressed in the process step B) to exist in the second region of the glass melt and d) a process step of conducting and connecting the electrode and at least one metallic parts.
