This article presents Functional Training as physical activity for students of EJA (Youth and Adult Education) in a school in the city of Belem-PA in the fight against physical inactivity, changes in habits and innovative proposals for classes with the following research problem. question: what is the students' perspective on the strategy of physical activity in health promotion combating physical inactivity?. In this way, the article aimed to analyze the effects of the functional training proposal in the fight against physical inactivity in a class of the 4th stage of EJA students, through the IPAQ (international physical activity questionnaire), identifying the level of physical activity that students found themselves, through the data collection instrument in which it allows to analyze the estimated time, day and duration for the practice of weekly physical activity, being able to present moderate or vigorous intensity in their sports practices and thus sensitizing these students about the importance of health-related physical activity. As a research technique, field research was used, with a phenomenological focus that is characterized by having interpretative elements as the basis of understanding and this article also has a quantitative and qualitative approach, in which the results of different nature are not incompatible and rather a complementarity, the participants were 12 students from the EJA class, aged 16 to 59 years old. The results showed that 41.6% of students were classified as sedentary, especially women, and their perspectives in the Functional Training proposal strategy were effective in the process of health promotion in Physical Education classes in theory and in practice, because emphasized the need for more activities of this type, being carried out in the school environment at EJA, to change healthy habits and decrease levels of sedentary lifestyle.Thus, it is considered relevant to prioritize health promotion at school with EJA teaching modality, to rescue knowledge through the physical education discipline through physical activity aiming to elucidate students the importance of physical activity in disease prevention, so that he can experience the exercise regularly. Thus, well-planned and oriented physical activity can be used and considered as a great ally in combating sedentary lifestyle and preventing chronic non-communicable diseases. It was observed that the students felt motivated in theory and in practice, one of the aspects characterized in the EJA being the strengthening of self-esteem, expressing their individual and collective opinions, making it evident that innovative activities call attention to their practice. The evidence presented here makes a reflection that in health promotion it is possible to work theory and practice in EJA, disseminating in the methodologies of Physical Education classes the importance of physical activity and physical education relating in the context of health through the body culture of movement , bringing functional training as a strategy in health promotion as content possibilities, in order to improve the physical capacities of students in their daily lives, with the aim of taking this knowledge beyond their school life
