Evaluation and management of high ankle sprains

2001
Ankle sprains are on of the most frequently encountered sports injuries. Most inversion ankle sprains respond well to conservative treatment, and patients return to normal activity with few complications. While the lateral ankle sprain and the ankle fracture involving syndesmotic rupture are well represented in the literature, the ankle sprain involving the distal tibiofibular syndesmosis is not as commonly reported. The authors discuss the mechanism, physical examination, and management of high ankle sprains.
