Applications of bio-fuel for internal combustion engines

2017
Nowadays, the awareness about the environment especially among researches to search for an alternative fuel to reduces the pollution. In order to reduce depletion of fossil fuel and improve environment benefit, bio-fuel is a one of the alternative fuel to decrease this problem. In general, vegetable oil is cleaner forms of energy, renewable and sustainable. In addition, most widely produce bio-diesel is the esters of vegetable oils, animal fats or waste cooking oils. The present review aims to study the vegetable oil used as alternative fuel in diesel engine. Use bio-diesel in diesel engine can reduce the unburned hydrocarbon (UCBH), carbon monoxide (CO), particulate matter (PM) emissions oxide of nitrogen. This review is discuss the characteristic and properties on vegetable oil, advantages and disadvantages of vegetable oil and bio-diesel, properties of biodiesel fuel and biodiesel blend by using vegetable oil and diesel fuel in diesel engine. Generally, the aim for experiment is focus on the effect of bio-diesel blends on the performance of ignition engine. The brief discussion is made on the engine performance and exhaust emission test with different speed engine and also the different percent of diesel blends in diesel fuel performance.
