First Order Phase Transitions in the Brake Light Cellular Automation Model Within the Fundamental Diagram Approach

This paper proposed a new brake light cellular automata model within the fundamental diagram approach. Compared with previous brake light models, the following aspects are incorporated: (i) when the velocity of the following vehicle is large enough, the difference in decelerating performance under different driving conditions is considered; (ii) random decelerations will not influence the state of the brake light; (iii) the time gap is replaced by the effective time gap. Simulations show that the synchronized flow and the first order transitions can be reproduced
