Tarihi Safranbolu Camilerinin Yapısal ve Mekânsal Özelliklerinin İncelenmesi

Safranbolu is (in the Old Bazaar) which is one of the best-preserved examples of Turkish urban history. In this study structural and architectural features of historic mosques in this region are examined by integration of traditional urban texture that they belong and their materials such as wood, stone and /or mud brick that they have built. Because the processes from the design to the construction of the historic mosques that are the subject of this study is not known precisely. On the other hand, the factors that determine the design and construction process are the subjects discussed by many researchers. Accordingly, it is clear that this study will contribute to the identification of the structural and spatial characteristics of the historic Safranbolu mosques. With  this purpose; Dagdelen Mosque, Eski Mosque, Hamidiye Mosque, Hidayetullah Mosque, Izzet Mehmet Pasa Mosque, Kazdaglioglu Mosque, Koprulu Mehmet Pasa Mosque, Lutfiye Mosque and Tas Minare Mosque which have similar examples in terms of load-bearing system such as columns, squinch, arches and covering elements are taken into account. In this way, carrier (structural) system elements and covering elements related to the aforementioned mosques are defined. In comparison with the obtained findings, some results and recommendations are made for transfer of these mosques to future generations. It is also thought that this study will respond to a deficiency in terms of the documentation, too.
