Pharmacokinetics of meropenem and its metabolite ICI 213,689 in healthy subjects with known renal metabolism of imipenem

Six healthy male subjects who had received imipenem without cilastatin in previous studies, were given 500 mg meropenem as single 30 min intravenous infusions. Plasma and urine samples were collected for 12 h and meropenem and its metabolite were assayed by HPLC and RIA, respectively.
