리스트의 오라토리오 《성 엘리사벳의 전설》

2012
Liszt"s oratorio Die Legende von der heiligen Elisabeth (1862) was inspired directly by Moritz von Schwind"s series of frescos depicting episodes from the Saint"s life at Wartburg Castle near Eisenach in Thuringia, Germany. The frescos consist of six large rectangular and seven smaller rounded tableaux. Oratorio"s six scenes correspond to the six rectangular ones, respectively. This oratorio had been one of the most popular nineteenth-century oratorios. One of the reasons for such popularity was German and Hungarian ingredient of the work. With another element, the pervasive Catholicism, they prefigure Liszt"s so-called “Three-Pronged Life” in his old age leading an itinerary life between Weimar, Budapest, and Rome.
