Turbulence Mitigation for Coherent Ladar using Photon Counting Detector Arrays

The atmospheric turbulence-limited aperture size for coherent ladar can be significantly increased by propagating the local oscillator with the signal through the turbulent medium and detecting the return signal with an array of photon-counting detectors.
