2010
Objective To investigate the rates of hypertension awareness, medication and control(three rates)among the rural residents in Lianyungang city and to evaluate the interventional effect of an ongoing clinical study on the "three rates".Methods Data were collected through a questionnaire-based interview and physical examination(blood pressure measurement)was administered to the rural residents, aged 45-75 years, who lived in the villages in Ganyu and Donghai counties of Lianyungang city.A "three rates"comparison was made between the intervention villages which entered the clinical study and the non-intervention villages which did not enter. Results 2 784 out of 4 618 participants were with hypertension.A collective "three rates" were 64.7%,44.7% and 7.3%,respectively.When compared to non-intervention villages, intervention villages had higher rates of hypertension awareness(67.9% vs 62.0%,OR=1.3,P=0.001),medication(48.1% vs 41.8%,OR=1.3,P=0.000 9) and control(8.8% vs 6.1%,OR=1.5,P=0.006 7).Conclusion This collection of hypertension awareness and medication rates were markedly higher(control rate was slightly higher) than those in the middle-aged Chinese population in 1998.The ongoing study has obviously elevated the "three rates" in the intervention villages.
