Optical and Energy Spectra of MBE-Grown Planar CdSe QD System in ZnSSe Matrix

Optical properties and energy spectra of planar arrays of CdSe QDs in ZnSSe matrix have been studied. Real absorption spectra of CdSe QDs extracted from the transmission and reflection spectra have been obtained. A theoretical model properly describing the energy spectra and exciton behavior in planar QDs is developed. It is shown that one-monolayer-height QDs studied in this paper do not provide proper carrier localization and increasing of the exciton oscillator strength. The developed theoretical model predicts the structure parameters, when strong lateral carrier confinement accompanied by a significantly increasing exciton oscillator strength is possible.
