No Phobias about PhoB Activation

Structures of the inactive and activated forms of the receiver domain of PhoB reported in this issue of Structure (Bachhawat et al., 2005) suggest that the OmpR/PhoB subclass of transcription factors becomes active by dimerization about a symmetric axis utilizing the α4-β5-α5 surface.
