Experimental studies of the 700 kJ two-gun plasma focus device

1989
The INER's 700 KJ two-gun plasma focus device which consists of a capacitor bank of 144x16 /spl mu/f, 25 kV modules and the Mather-type coaxial guns, can provide simultaneously the formation of a pair of deuterium plasma foci at the end of each gun. Although this result is different from Mather's observation, yet information obtained from both the X-ray pinhole photographs and the frame photographs comes to the same conclusion. In this paper, the design features and the operation parameters are described, then the diagnostics of the pinched plasmas and their time evolution are presented and discussed.
