Congenital defect of the diaphragm with unusual features.

A case of congenital defect of the left side of the diaphragm in an adult female is reported. The stomach, small intestine and left colic flexure were present in the left thorax. The oesophagus seemed elongated and had an abnormally long intra-abdominal segment. There was congenital fusion of the bodies of the eighth and ninth dorsal vertebrae. The findings are discussed.
