Use of nuclear explosions to improve the productivity of oil or gas bearing strata

1970
Underground nuclear explosions in the Hoggar test site show that the geological effects may be favorable for the stimulation of oil or gas reservoirs. The study of the permanent liquid flow rate by Dupuit equation shows that the flow rate may be increased by a factor of 10 to 50 for high yield explosions. Simultaneous explosions may have a more important stimulation action.
