Disclosed are a terminal and an operation controlling method thereof. The terminal receives the information of a tag device from the tag device and performs an authentication process. If the tag device is a registered tag device in the authentication process, the terminal receives start data corresponding to a terminal control function from the tag device, while in a power saving mode or a locking mode, and performs a function corresponding to the start data.
