Effects of GLP-1 and GLP-1 analogue on function and mass of β cell in type 2 diabetes mellitus

Beta cell failure is one of the main cause of type 2 diabetes, while the decrease of beta cell mass is the material base of beta ceil failure. In recent years, these two factors in the treatment of type 2 diabetes have received increasing attention. GLP-1 and its long-acting analogues (Liraglutide) have convinc-ing effects on improving beta cell function and reversing decreased beta cell mass.
