A method for calculating an NVR number of redundancy version in order to implement a hybrid protocol automatic repeat request (HARQ), using multiple redundancy versions used for data transmitted in a communication system containing a transmitter and a receiver and a NTC frame number connection known by the transmitter and the receiver, comprising: providing a number NarQ processes automatic repeat request and NVR number of redundancy versions to the receiver and transmitter, characterized by calculating, by the transmitter, the NVR version number corresponding to said data as a function of NTC connection frame number, the number of processes NarQ automatic repeat request and NVR number of redundancy versions redundancy; and calculating, by the receiver, the NVR number of redundancy version as a function of NTC frame number connection, the number NarQ processes automatic repeat request and NVR number of redundancy versions, wherein said NVR is used to indicate which redundancy version of said data is sent from said transmitter and received by said receiver.
