Forensic Earthquake Engineering

2010
Forensic engineering involves technical investigation of failures that may assist in the resolution of disputes. In this paper the scope of typical forensic earthquake engineering activities is reviewed, some representative cases are described and the lessons learned are summarised. Notwithstanding some limitations of the process, it is apparent that some significant benefits to the knowledge base can accrue from forensic investigations.
