A New Three-Phase Diode Rectifier with Improved Characteristics

A new topology of the capacitor-input-type three-phase diode rectifier which satisfies the harmonic regulation of "IEC 61000-3-2, Class A" under the condition with output power of 11 [kW] has been proposed. The performance and characteristics of the new rectifier, the single three-phase-bridge rectifier and the double three-phase-bridge rectifier, all capacitor-input-type, are compared using simulation. Additionally, setups of the new and the single three-phase-bridge capacitor-input-type three-phase rectifier are built and tested. Comparing the performance and characteristics obtained from the simulation and experiments, it has been shown that the new KOBE rectifier is advantageous than the single and double three-phase-bridge capacitor-input-type three-phase rectifier.
