A modelagem física tridimensional como instrumento de ensino e aprendizagem de projeto arquitetônico

The article aims to present a pedagogical experience developed in the discipline of Architecture Design I, 2019/2, in the course of Architecture and Urbanism at the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria on the Cachoeira do Sul campus. It seeks to discuss the results achieved within the scope of the process project, from the experimentation of a methodology that uses the physical model as a project instrument. This tool is the basis of spatial, compositional and volumetric research, functioning as a three-dimensional sketch. Physical models are placed as fundamental parts in the cognition process, acting as facilitators in the creative process and in formal analysis. Its use enriches the dialogue and reaffirms the studio as a space for debate, exchange of information and experiences.
