The utility model relates to a reactive power compensating apparatus. A main bus chamber of the apparatus is disposed at the upper part of the apparatus. A knife switch, a plurality of fuses, a plurality of contactors, and a common compensation capacitor are arranged successively from top to bottom. A ventilating chamber is disposed at the lower part of the apparatus. The common compensation capacitor and a split-phase compensation capacitor are arranged in parallel. When the reactive power compensating apparatus is used, split-phase compensation can be executed by the split-phase compensation capacitor according to a requirement. Thus, loss in a transformer and a line can be reduced; the power factor of a power grid is reduced; and power supply quality is increased.
