Parametric generation and second harmonic generation in Ti-PPLN segmented waveguides

2000
Summary form only given. Reports the first study of parametric generation and second harmonic generation in periodically poled titanium indiffused (Ti) lithium niobate segmented waveguides. This has been achieved by inversing the two fabrication steps. First, Ti segmented waveguides were fabricated on Z-cut lithium niobate substrates. Then, the electric field technique was used for poling only the non-guiding regions. In terms of nonlinear characterization, measurements of optical parametric generation (OPG) and second harmonic generation (SHG) were performed. However, we observed a certain waveguide inhomogeneity, revealed by the SHG spectrum. As for linear characterization, the propagation losses were found to be very different from one waveguide to another.
