El cerebelo y sus funciones The cerebellum and its functions

2009
The cerebellum is part of the Central Nervous System in all vertebrates. It is related to the co-ordinaon, adjustment and control of movement, to the modulaon of informaon originated in the spinal cord and brainstem. In addion, motor learning is due to synapc neuroplascity mechanisms in the cerebellar cortex and deep nuclei. Other research have shown that the cerebellum is acve during events that do not involve the control of movement. Thus, the purpose of this review is to show current proposals on how the cerebellum parcipates in controlling voluntary movement, motor learning as well as cognive and emoonal aspect of behavior.
