Image reading apparatus and an image forming apparatus

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct an image in accordance with distortion of a read image different for each image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus (U1) includes: tilt detection means (C6) for detecting tilt amounts (L1, L2) of an original document (Gi) with respect to a transportation direction of the original document; distortion detection means (C9) for detecting a distortion amount (L3), which is a deviation from a right angle; and image correction means (C11) for rotating the image according to amounts (-L1, -L2) of cancelling the tilt amounts (L1, L2) of the read image detected by the tilt detection means (C6) and correcting distortion in accordance with an amount (L4) of cancelling the distortion amount.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
