AC/AC powertrain control under different HEV supply network

2018
The paper deals with direct AC-AC propulsion system using [3×5] matrix converter and five-phase traction induction motor (IM) for the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). Using the direct AC-AC system, in comparison to classical rectifier-inverter with DC link, features smaller on-state semiconductor switches losses at full load operation and consequently higher efficiency of the powertrain of the vehicle. The major advantage of using a five-phase machine instead of three-phase one is smaller torque pulsation and better fault tolerance after the loss of one phase of feeding source. There are presented comparative analyses of AC/AC powertrain under different HEV supply network: as a fixed voltage source, a soft voltage source with input LC filter, and using the electromechanical model of ICE engine and PMSG generator. Modeling and simulation are done using Matlab-Simulink environment, and simulation experiments are given in the paper.
