Performance analysis of solar irradiance by integrated heating and cooling models in different regions of the Indian sub-continent

2021
Solar energy is clean energy that will reduce the dependency on fossil fuels and provide us an efficient sustainable source of energy. This paper showcases how effective and efficient use of solar energy through a hybrid photovoltaic-thermal solar system combining with domestic hot water, space heating, and cooling in India, near the Tropic of Cancer using performance analysis of solar irradiance is best for solar application due to higher solar radiation over the year. Typical photovoltaic solar cells have an overall efficiency of 20% and the hybrid photovoltaic system, it is able to provide 60% in heating and around 50–55% in cooling provision in city area households. For single households in different cities of India, the efficiency of a hybrid solar thermal system has been estimated based on weather and location. Suitable photovoltaic solar collectors are selected and a highly efficient system is designed for that particular region. Hence, it can be an efficient ideal model for combined domestic hot water, space heating, and cooling for the tropical region. The solar irradiance of different locations near tropical regions varies in different months of the year and this has been analyzed using the data and an estimated design of the solar hybrid system has been carried out.
