Prescriptions from Outpatient and Emergency Department:Survey of Essential Indicators and Analysis of Drug Use

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the prescription quality and drug use situation by analyzing the prescriptions from outpatient and emergency department in our hospital.METHODS:A total of 12,934 prescriptions from outpatient and emergency department in April 2006 were reviewed retrospectively and analyzed in respect of the prescription quality and non-rational use of drug.RESULTS:The drugs totaled 2.32 kinds per capita;the per capita drug cost was 105.35 yuan;the application ratio of injections was 21.22% and that of antibiotics was 19.06%;the application ratio of Medical Insurance drugs was 85%;the application rate of general names of drugs was 99.83%;226 (1.75%) prescriptions were unqualified,and 359 (2.78%) were non-rational ones.CONCLUSION:The prescriptions from outpatient and emergency department in our hospital were of high writing quality,in which the use of general names of drugs was standard,the structure of drug use was rational and the use of injections was on the high side.Great attention should be paid to the problems of irrational use of drugs.
