THE NATURAL HISTORY OF THE BOTTLENOSE WHALE, Hyperoodon ampullatus (FORSTER)

Two species of bottlenose whales, Hyperoodon, have been recognized, namely H. ampullatus in the North Atlantic and H. planifrons in the southern hemisphere (Rice and Scheffer, 1968).
