Synthesis, structure and norbornene polymerization activity of a bulky β-diketiminato palladium(II) complex

Abstract A new bulky β-diketiminato palladium(II) complex was synthesized by direct reaction of ( i Pr 2 Ph) 2 nacnacH (( i Pr 2 Ph) 2 nacnac = CH{C(Me)N(C 6 H 3 -2,6- i Pr 2 )} 2 ) with Pd(OAc) 2 which yielded [( i Pr 2 Ph) 2 nacnac]Pd(OAc) as a mononuclear species with chelating nacnac and acetato ligands. Preliminary investigations into the polymerization of norbornene in the presence of BF 3 OEt 2 were performed.
