Study on the epidemiological characteristics of the severe cases with hand-foot-mouth disease in Beijing, 2012

Objective To analyze the characteristics of the severe cases with hand-foot-mouth disease(HFMD) and to provide basis for the prevention and control of HFMD.Methods The information of HFMD severe cases were analyzed by the method of cross-sectional descriptive study.Rate and constituent ratio were used to describe the epidemiologic features of the cases.Results The rate of sever HFMD cases was 0.92％ and the gender ratio of severe cases was 1.54 ∶ 1.Chaoyang district and the scattered children and age between 0 to 2 showed high rate of sever cases,the rate went down as the age went up.In time distribution,September and February were peaks of the rate.Conclusions We should pay more attention to the outer suburban districts,the scattered children and children between age 0 to 2 in the prevention and control of HFMD.
