Taxonomic Description of Amaranthaceae Family of the Niwai Region of Rajasthan

2021
Amaranthaceae family is a dicot family belonging to the subclass monochlamydae. Many plants of this family have long evolutionary history and are economically important. The plants are characterized by long spike with prickly fruits and flowers. They are cosmopolitan in distribution; many members of this family are found in the temperate as well as tropical regions of India. In this research paper, we have discussed the taxonomy of Amaranthaceae family of the Niwai region as well as the Banasthali Vidhyapith campus. Very little efforts have been done till date on the taxonomic classification of the family. So we have tried to study the taxonomy of this family in the Niwai region of Rajasthan and Banasthali Vidhyapith campus, Rajasthan, India. We observed the plants of this family in rainy season when the campus was full of the green growth of weeds and several kinds of Amaranthaceae genus as well as the luxuriant growth of the genera’s. This kind of growth pattern is useful for soil ecology and community succession. Amaranthaceae family involves 178 genera and around 3000 species all over the world. In the present research paper, we have found 14 genera’s of this family in total—some of them were ephemeral and had a short life span, while many of them grew throughout the year. The family is very useful, both ecologically as well as economically.
