Acid production and factors of its regulation in patients with different results of ulcer surgical treatment

2002
: Features of regulation of gastric acid production in 82 patients with favorable and unfavorable results of duodenal ulcers (DU) surgical treatment were studied. Current radioimmunoassays were used for assessment of hormonal and acid production function of operated stomach. It is demonstrated that an increase in gastrointestinal and pancreatic hormones secretion in postvagotomic syndromes depends on postoperative disorders degree and terms after gastric surgery that may be regarded as hyperactivity of regulatory systems. It is concluded that primary state of acid production and its regulators may be criteria of outcomes assessment of DU surgical treatment. Timely and targeted correction of these hormonal disorders in the postoperative period is the measure of prophylaxis of many postoperative complications.
